Maximizing Your Black Friday Impact: Proven Promotions for Solo Spa Bosses

As we approach the bustling season marked by Black Friday, it's the perfect time to start strategizing impactful promotions that can invigorate your spa business. With nearly two decades of experience in the beauty and wellness industry, I've gathered effective methods to attract clients and boost your business while ensuring work-life balance. Today, I'm sharing three promotional strategies that have proven successful in my spa over time.

Welcome back Solo Spa Bosses to the Spa Business Building Podcast. I'm Tiffny, your host, and if we haven't met yet, I help solo beauty and wellness professionals attract clients and build a thriving business by teaching them how to run a business, market their business, set up systems and processes for financial success. So today's episode, when this is airing, we will be just a little over a week from Black Friday.

So if you are still trying to think of a promotion to run for your business and your clients, I have three promotions that I have used in the past in my business with success. So let's go ahead and dive in. The first promotion that has been very successful for me, I've run it during Black Friday, I've run it during other promotions when I've needed to, and it is spend X amount on products and receive X amount in service credits.

Now in my business, service credits, I call those spa vouchers. And I actually have a card that says spa voucher. I have them in $10 increments and then $25 increments.

So you can get a spa voucher. And essentially, it's a discount toward a service. So they can apply it towards a regular priced service only.

It is not valid on discounted services. And what it is, is they can use that card to apply it towards a service and they get that amount off. So if it's $25, then they can get $25 off a service and then a service of $100 or more, $50 or more, whatever it is that you choose.

So it's essentially like a discount. You can also set it up like a gift card. So then again, it would be taking that amount off the service that they are applying it to.

So you can set the price that you want. Spend $100 on products and receive $50 in spa vouchers or service credits towards a service. The second promotion is spend X amount in gift certificates and receive X amount in service credits or product credits.

However, you want to do that. So this one I've done in the past, and I will be honest. What usually will happen is your current clients will buy the gift certificates for themselves.

Then they will use the gift certificates and the spa vouchers together when they come in to get the discount on their service. If you are running, if you are trying to attract new clients, thinking that your current clients will buy gift certificates for their friends, you really have to create this promotion and put those stipulations in place, saying when you market it, purchase a gift certificate for your friend. Receive a spa voucher for yourself.

That way they're buying the spa gift certificate for someone else. Then they can use the spa voucher for themselves. Now, if you're okay with them buying the gift certificate in advance and then using that spa voucher and the gift certificate for themselves, then just be aware because that is likely what will happen.

So this isn't my favorite promotion to use, although it really does help to generate that extra boost in income when people are buying gift certificates. Now, you can put a limit. Let's say you say, spend $100 in gift certificates, receive $100 in spa vouchers.

Now, you have those spa vouchers. You can have them in $25 increments, so that when they come in, they can only use one spa voucher at a time. And then that means that they are coming in four times, four services.

So likely they have that $100 gift certificate. They're going to use that towards their first service with the $25 off. Then they may have a balance on that, use it towards the next one.

But then they're still coming in three more times. Now, yes, they're getting that $25 off their service. So you want to make sure that you are requiring that they apply it towards a service of $100 or more, $150 or more, whatever your pricing may be.

But then, that is bringing those guests back in several more times. So you're building that relationship and really giving them that wow factor service. Are you a solo beauty or wellness entrepreneur feeling overwhelmed trying to grow your practice?

The third service promotion is purchase a package of services. So they're pre-paying for this package of services at full price, not a discounted price, and they're receiving either product for that package, or you can also do here the spa credits or the spa vouchers, whatever it is that you want to do. So they're buying a full package, three microchanneling services, three massage services, three whatever it may be, and then they can get the spa vouchers to get a discount on their next three services.

So that means they're coming in for three services and they're coming in for three more services at a discounted rate. Or when you do the service package and product, then you bundle those products. So in the past, I have done chemical peels.

When I want to promote my chemical peels, this is what I like to do is do that package of chemical peels for chemical peels, and then they will receive a free product that they are using at home to help with that hyperpigmentation. Or I've done three massage package, and then they can get this free upgrade with a body lotion or something to use at home. And it's done really well.

I've also done microchanneling. If they buy a package of four microchanneling sessions, then because they're spending $1,200 with me, then I have offered, they will get a free travel size product package. So that includes cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and an exfoliant, and they get that travel size product for free.

So I'm not losing a ton of money on offering this promotion, and this one has done very, very well for me. So those are the three promotions that I have run in the past during Black Friday. I've also done this at other times, and they do very, very well.
