Need a Boost in Summer Sales?
Welcome back to The Spa Business Building Podcast. I'm Tiffany, your host. I hope that you had a great 4th of July weekend.
I hope that you were able to step away from your business and take time to enjoy the things that you want to do for the weekend, whether that's, you know, filling it with so much fun festivities or doing absolutely nothing, which is exactly what me and my family did this 4th of July weekend. And it felt so very good. If we haven't met yet, I'm Tiffany.
I am the owner of Spa Business Building, and I help Solo Beauty and Wellness Professionals attract clients and build a thriving business. I am a licensed aesthetician and massage therapist with nearly 20 years of experience. I've owned a day spa for nine of those years, and I've been in the ups and downs of business ownership.
And through the experiences and the turmoil, I've gained a lot of knowledge and know-how, and I am sharing it here with you today. So I want to share a couple of strategies, tips, promotions that you can do to make some cash flow, a cash injection, boost your sales this summer. Now, we're almost mid-July.
I feel like summer is flying by and like it's almost over, but there's still time to boost your sales. And I want to share a couple of tips that have worked well for me. So the first one, I'm doing a promotion this July.
It's a Christmas in July type of promotion. So the more that you buy, the more that you save on retail purchases. So I'm offering 10%, 12%, and 15%, depending on how much someone purchases in retail.
Only it is not valid on services. So far, I've had over $500. As of today, I believe it's the 10th.
$500 in sales, not including that discount. So this is after the discount. And that's been three orders, I think.
Three orders, so my guests cannot go online to purchase the products with any discount. They have to contact me. So those are just three orders of text messages and emails.
And I'm guessing that my guests who are coming in are going to take advantage of it through the month at their visit. So I expect to have over $1000 in retail sales, extra than what I normally do. So that's a nice little chunk of change just to get me through the summer if you're feeling slow.
Another strategy that you can use is to reach out to past clients that you haven't seen in at least three months. Send an email to them, letting them know that you're thinking about them, that you have time for them, that you would love to see them, and maybe offer them a small incentive, whether that's a small discount or an upgrade, a free add-on, whatever that is or what works best for your business. But getting those clients who you have already seen back into your store, getting them back into the routine of coming in and receiving those services, even if it means a little nudge with an incentive, life gets busy, and we understand that.
We'd still love to see them. Now, if you need some help sending that email, I did create an email template for you. All you have to do is copy, paste, and insert your information for your business.
If you would like that, head over to Instagram. I'm solo.spa.bosses over there, and you can DM me the word email, and I will send you the link for that free template. Another strategy that you could do is a flash sale.
So while I'm doing the month of July, Christmas in July, you could do that for one day. Choose something that you want to do a flash sale. Make it an amazing sale that people cannot turn down.
Maybe a BOGO. Buy to get one half price. Those do really well.
I usually run those around Christmas. When I have my open house, I do a BOGO. And my guests really love it.
So you could try something like that. You could also run maybe a small sale for gift certificates. Or you could also do a package.
Maybe you don't do packages all year, but you could do a summer package. Like, you know, buy three manicures and get a free upgrade. Or you could bundle them together and give a small discount for prepaying the package.
If you're a waxer, maybe you could bundle together some waxing services. Maybe with your massage, if you buy three massages, then you get a free 15-minute add-on to one service. Something like that that you wouldn't normally do just to kind of entice guests to come in.
Gift certificate packages, you could do, you know, buy three $50 gift certificates and get a free 15-minute upgrade to, you know, one service. Something like that, just to see a quick cash injection into your business. Now, how are you going to implement any of these promotions?
I hope that you are utilizing your email list. So sit down, think about what your promotion will be, create an email for it. How long are you going to run this promotion?
Make sure that that is included on your emails, on your social media posts. Make sure that you put all the fine print very, very clearly, that they cannot use this promotion with other promotions, that it's valid for one person only. Whatever it is that you, you know, the do's, the can and cannots, the do's and don'ts of your promotion, make sure that you have that very, very clear.
I always get kind of, I get so excited about my promotion, and I throw it out there, and I forget to put that fine print in, and then, or I forget to put the expiration date, and then a month later, someone will come back and ask for that, and it's just kind of annoying. So I usually will give them the offer because it was my mistake, but make sure that you don't make that mistake. So you're going to want to send emails.
Now, if you're having this promotion, maybe it's a month-long promotion, maybe it's a week-long. Make sure that you're sending several emails. Don't just send one email.
You want to keep reminding people. Maybe they read the email and totally forgot. Keep sending the emails.
Now, if you were doing like a week-long promotion, send three emails, space them out every other day. Make sure that you are posting this promotion to your social media. Post it every single day.
Put it in your stories. Your stories is where your followers will see you. So make sure that you're putting that on your stories.
Make sure that you're creating an image, a static post for it. And if you can go live, go live. Talk about your promotion.
Let people see your face. Record a video. Put that up as a reel.
You are here to make money. Don't be afraid to promote your services. Now, if all you're doing is trying to sell, then people can be like, Oh my gosh, she's selling something again.
That's kind of annoying because you're not putting the value. You're not giving them value. You're just trying to sell to them.
But if this is like a cash injection, you're really trying to sell something, you have a flash sale going on, promote it, talk about it. Don't be afraid to go live. So I like to do the rule of three.
So when it comes to social media, make one reel, one image, and you can do a carousel. And also make sure that you're putting stories up every day. So one, two, three, every other day.
You can post every day too. That's perfectly fine. And then also you want to make sure that you're sending those emails out on a regular basis.
Don't just put one up there and then let it go because you aren't going to reach as many people. They're going to forget about it. Life is busy.
You can also make a flyer. Put it in your space, in your treatment room, so that your guests can see it and talk about it. You know, if you have like a shared space where other people are kind of walking by and you're allowed to post flyers there, try that.
But you want to get it out there. People don't know that this promotion exists unless you talk about it. So that is it, my friends.
I hope that you found this helpful. I would love to hear if you tried any of these or if you tried a different promotion. Send me a DM on Instagram, solo.spa.bosses.
