So today we're going to talk all about online visibility. What is online visibility? And why is it so important for the success of your business?

So online visibility is the ability for your business to be seen by your target audience or ideal client online. So this includes social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. It also includes your website and search engines such as Google and even Pinterest.

So I'm seeing a lot of solo service providers asking how they can gain new clients. And when I see this question being asked, I sometimes like to do a quick audit. So I will kind of dive into do a little creeping of their information and see what their online visibility looks like, where their online presence is at.

And one thing that I'm noticing is that there just really isn't any online presence. You can't find them. They're non-existent.

They're not showing up in Google search. Their business page, if they even have one, doesn't list a website. There are no services.

There's no pictures. Sometimes they do have a social media account, but oftentimes it doesn't really offer enough information that guests are looking for. Like their services, their prices, even their location.

And I hate to say it, but not having an online presence, such as a website or a Google profile, is severely limiting your reach of customers. And according to recent studies, over 70% of people discover new spas or wellness professionals online. So being visible is like having a neon sign that says, come, relax, and rejuvenate here.

I want you to do a little exercise with me. Let's say that you are needing some work done in your home and you need to hire a professional. I want you to think about how you would go about searching for this person, a plumber, an electrician, a contractor, whatever it may be, how are you going to find that person?

So I'm thinking that it's going to be one of two ways. So let's go and let's look into the first way. So first, you're most likely going to open up Google and do a search.

Home contractors near me, plumbers near me, whatever that is. You're going to scroll through that list and look at their location and their reviews. And from there, you're most likely looking at websites of the businesses who have really good reviews and are within a reasonable distance from you.

You're probably going to check out their website and take a peek at their social media pages to see if they have any videos, images showcasing their work. But when you're on their website, you're probably going to look at how to contact them, their testimonials, their pricing, any images for reference as well. So another way that you're searching is probably to pop on social media and ask your community or friend group about who they would recommend for whatever professional you're looking for.

You're probably looking for testimonials from people who have had work done from reliable sources from people that you know and trust. So you're most likely going to their website and social media accounts once you find that recommendation. You're going to do a little more digging into the company that way.

Probably Google search them, see if there's bad reviews, looking for their pricing. So you might start with the social media and then go into the Google or you might just go directly to Google. This, my friend, is how other people are also searching for spa beauty wellness service providers.

So you need to have a way for potential customers to find you online, and that is going to set your business up for success. So what does that mean? That means that you need to have a way for people to search for your services.

The other day, I did the same exact audit on a friend of mine who is a new massage therapist and we were kind of brainstorming ideas on how she can leverage her business to attract her ideal client and she wanted to promote a particular service. So I went and searched for her business. I just did a Google search to see if it popped up and nothing came up.

I typed in the professional that I was looking for and massage therapist near me, let's say, and I had to scroll down pretty far to even find her business. So she did have a business profile with Google, but it was missing a ton of information. It didn't even list that particular service that she was wanting to highlight and show off her expertise in.

Her profile didn't link to a website. She had no website. It was basically just a scheduling page.

And before anybody is willing to schedule with you, they want to check out your website. They want to see what you're all about. So having a website that lists your services, your location, your testimonial, your prices showcases a little bit about you, maybe some before and afters, and your social media should be more of your personality, kind of a glimpse behind the scenes.

But they work really well together. But she really didn't have any of this. And while I know that she is a new business, it's still really important to have that moving forward because you're missing out on opportunities for people to find you when you don't have a website.

Social media, I would say, isn't the end-all be-all. It is really great to have something that highlights your services and location prices and those things for when people do use social media to kind of Google you. If someone recommends you or refers you online and they're going to quick go to your social media page and you don't have anything, most people will then just try to do a Google search.

I feel like if you don't have a social media page, they're not just going to stop there. They will most likely do a Google search. That's why I say it's not the end-all be-all, but I do think that they work hand in hand to highlight you as expertise and showcase your services.

So what do you need to do to make sure that you are visible online? Number one, make sure that you have created a Google business profile. When it comes to people seeking new services, a whopping 93% of online experiences begin with the search engine.

And Google is the go-to for many. It's like the modern yellow pages. So having a strong online presence and utilizing smart marketing strategies can significantly boost your visibility in the competitive beauty and wellness industry.

Number two, create a website. Even if it's just a free one, it's a great place to start. My very first website was the free website that was included with my liability insurance provider.

From there, I think I used a website that was included with my scheduling platform. And these websites can be effective as a place to start. So I would make sure that they do have some sort of built-in search engine optimization or SEO to help your business be seen online when people go and Google.

Then your web pages will pop up if you have the right keywords in your website. There you have it, friend. My number one tip for building a successful business, online visibility.
