Welcome back to the Spa Business Building Podcast. I'm Tiffany, your host. And in today's episode, I wanna talk about one way to gain visibility online for your business.
And the way to gain visibility online visibility is through consistent social media presence. Now, your online presence is more than just social media. It can be your website, Google business profile.
I mean, social media is also a big one. And if you want to gain more online visibility, the way to do that is through consistently being present on whichever platform that you choose. Social media is all about being social and building connections.
It's a great way to promote yourself and your business, but let's be honest, it can feel exhausting. And if you're not gaining any traction or you feel like you haven't seen any growth or your social media account hasn't gotten any engagement, you have no likes, no shares, comments, nobody's showing up in your DMs, it feels like, what am I working for? What am I working towards, right?
I mean, at least that's how I feel. And I sometimes feel like social media is a full-time job, and it can be. But if you have the right strategies and tools to implement in your social media, it can be fun and you can gain a lot of traction.
Now, I have a love-hate relationship with social media. I don't think that it's the end-all. Be all to growth in your business.
I think that it can help. I think that if you nurture your audience, you can gain more bookings. You can build your brand.
But I also think that there are other steps and strategies that you need that are more important or just as important to grow your business. I think if you're just hanging out in social media, you're missing a lot of other connections and you have to be in other places. But social media can definitely help.
But you have to have a strategy, and that means being consistent. So if you are not gaining any traction, if you're not getting any growth, if you're not getting any engagement, it could be because you're lacking consistency in what you're posting. Now, I'm guilty of this.
I'm trying to run three businesses, to be honest. So I have my day spa, and I'm trying to grow my spa business building program. And I am also a landlord for beauty and wellness businesses.
I own a property where I rent suites to others in business like me. So I am trying to manage three businesses, and it can be really overwhelming on top of being a mom and a wife and all the other things. And I feel like my listeners can relate to that.
We all have other things going on, whatever it may be, and trying to be in all the places all the time is really exhausting, especially when you don't feel like you're so great at it. You wanted to open a business to offer your services, not realizing that you had so many other things that you had to do, and that means being a social media manager, unfortunately. So if you're not seeing that traction, it could be because you're lacking inconsistency in your posts, and I know that I am guilty of this.
I was guilty of this. I've challenged myself to be better and to learn more, and I've been doing my research and studying, and I want to share with you what I have learned just by doing it on my own. So if you're lacking a consistent schedule, you're lacking a consistent schedule or your branding isn't consistent.
So these are the two things. If you're not seeing that engagement, you're not seeing that traction, it's because you're not posting regularly and your branding isn't consistent. And people are like, well, what exactly is she all about or are they all about?
So if you're branding is kind of lacking, it could be that you're taking like images from like Canva or I used to like Pinterest. I am guilty of this. I used to do this.
I would just take an image and slap it up on my social media because I was like, I need to post something. And I had no real plan or strategy. So I would throw something up there and it didn't really relate to my business.
So if you're doing this and you're not tailoring those images to meet your brand, that could be affecting your engagement. So Canva is a really great tool to utilize. You can create your own graphics, images, and you can create your branding suite, so your logos, your colors, your fonts.
And whenever you have or you're creating an image for social media, you can use all of that. And it's all in one place. And you're making your branding very cohesive together in your images.
So here is why consistency on your social media platform is important. Number one, it helps to build trust with your audience. So when you're showing up consistently, you're proving that you can be trusted.
And people want to know, especially your potential clients, they want to know that they can trust you. So in order to attract those clients or gain paying customers, you want to build that no like and trust with them. And showing up consistently, showing your face consistently, posting consistently builds trust with your audience.
Number two, it helps to build a community because social media is all about building connections. And when you're showing that you're trustworthy by showing up and sharing valuable content, you're fostering connections with your audience. And this helps to build community around your brand.
You're a business. You want to build that community, and you want people to associate that with your brand. Number three, it prompts engagement.
And here's why. Showing up consistently, using appealing and valuable content helps to prompt engagement, because when your post, your content is getting more likes, DMs, comments, shares, it's showing the algorithm that you're worth showing to others, because usually our content is only seen by a very, very small percentage of our audience. And when our posts get more, like, traction, likes, engagement, is what it's called, then the algorithm starts to show it to more people, and that makes you more visible.
So the goal is to try to create that engaging comment, or the engaging content, sorry. Now, let's talk about what consistency really means, because consistency doesn't mean that you have to show up every day or five days a week or ten times a day. It means showing up on a schedule that works for you and sticking to that schedule.
So whatever that feels like for you, because the algorithm starts to notice that you're consistent in whatever pattern that you have, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Friday through Monday, whatever that is, it doesn't have to be daily. But it recognizes the pattern of consistency, and it starts pushing your information out there more and showing it to more people. When it's shown to more people, the possibility of more engagement, as long as you have engaging content.
So you want to strive to hit your goal. So create a goal that is going to feel right for you. My suggestion is to start with something that is actually attainable, twice a week, two to three times a week, you know, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and stick to it, even if it's just once a week.
And once you start, you know, creating that pattern and getting used to the schedule and figuring out the tips and tricks to social media and posting, then you can add more, but start small. Don't overwhelm yourself because it's not worth it. If you are stressing about social media, it's not worth it.
Do what is going to keep you sane. Here are some tips to help you stay consistent. Number one, plan your posts.
So create a calendar, essentially. And this helps you to organize your ideas. It helps you to maintain that consistency.
And it also helps you to see the variety that you're posting because you want to post a little bit of variety. You want to post things that are engaging. You want to post a mix of reels, static images, carousels.
But you also want to make sure that you have a variety of nurturing content, growth content, and promotional content. Because if you're only showing up on your page selling, you're not going to get much engagement. You also need to make sure that you're creating things that are fun.
And that helps to grow your audience and nurture your audience with valuable content. And then you can slap some of those sales promotional once you've built the trust with your audience. Number two, you can batch create your content.
So set aside a time that you can sit down and just create a bunch of content. Have a schedule that you can look ahead, plan what you want to promote, which can be difficult because sometimes we don't always know what we're promoting week to week. I know I have a hard time doing that sometimes, but if you sit down and create a plan, put a calendar in front of you, plan out what your promotions are going to be, what you want to talk about, so then you can create that content around that.
Go into Canva, create your graphics, create your emails around that, and then create the social media around that as well, and then post it around your consistent schedule that you have created because this helps you to streamline the process. And once you get good at it, it helps you to cut down on your time. So it keeps you ahead of schedule.
So I really like to do this, and I feel so proud of myself when I know that I have scheduled things in advance. I do this with my podcast, and then I can take a little time off. If I post something ahead of time, like a month out, and then I have one day that I'm working, setting aside to work on all my podcasts, and then I can post that a month.
If something comes up, then you don't fall behind. Your kids get sick. You get sick.
You can't work because things happen in life, and it will happen. Plan ahead, and you're saving yourself. So the third tip that I have for staying consistent is to use scheduling tools.
And there are a huge, a large variety of scheduling tools. Meta has a free one. I was using that, and I was, it was okay, but it's free.
It does show you your analytics, and you definitely always want to make sure that you know your numbers, who's engaging, you know, how many accounts you're reaching, what posts are more popular than other posts. It's always good to know those analytics. But using a scheduling tool helps you, you know, when you're posting in advance, you can see what's going on, but you can use Meta.
It's only for Facebook and Instagram. Now, I just discovered a new, for me new, it's called Later Social. They have a 14-day free trial.
And so far, I've been using it. I'm almost up on my time, but it's pretty awesome. I'm not going to lie.
You can post to any platform, essentially. So TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube. So if you have all those different platforms and you want to like set up your content all in one place and have it scheduling to go out, it saves so much time.
It's so amazing. So if you want to check out Later Social, I'll put the link in the show notes and start your 14-day trial. And they have various like tiers for payment or what it would cost.
And I don't think it's that expensive at all, quite honestly. $15, $25, I can't really remember, but so far I'm really liking it. So that's it for today's episode, friends.
Thank you so much for joining me. If you found this information helpful, I invite you to please leave a review and share it with your fellow Spa Business besties. The more people that can find this podcast, the more I will grow also.
