Tune in to today's episode while I break down what's holding you back on social media and how to overcome it.

So you created a promotion, but you're not seeing the bookings coming in like you'd hoped for.

This is a common problem that solo service providers are facing. It's also the perfect topic to break down in this episode.

Hey, Solo Spa Boss, welcome back to the Spa Business Building Podcast. Today, I'm talking about a mistake that I am seeing Solo Beauty and Wellness Service Providers making on their social media pages. So when someone starts following me, I will take a quick peek at their Instagram or their Facebook page, and I'm seeing a common mistake.

And that mistake is that they're not showing up, they're not showing their faces on social media. I'm Tiffany Nodolny, your host of the Spa Business Building Podcast. I'm a licensed esthetician, massage therapist, and solopreneur in my day spa.

With nearly two decades of experience in the beauty and wellness industry, I've learned a few things about building a career and maintaining longevity. Outside of the treatment room, I'm a wife, mom, to the human and fluffy kind, plant enthusiast, and book lover. Join me while I share my experiences and insight on attracting clients, maintaining and building a thriving business while achieving work-life balance.

So whether you're a new solo spa boss or seasoned, this podcast is for you. So I just want to break down why it's important to show your face. But I want to start with I understand that it can be, it can feel really scary to be vulnerable and like showing your faces.

And I think as women, like we kind of get in our heads that like we're not good enough, we're not pretty enough. I don't like the way my voice sounds. I don't like the way that I look, and I don't have time, and there are just a lot of excuses.

And I know this because that was me in the beginning. I was always afraid to just talk or show up or show my face, and I'm going to show with you the things that I did to kind of help me get over that, and why it's important to show your face. So first, we're going to talk about why it's important to be showing up and showing your face on your social media.

So first off, it's because people connect with people, and if you're a solo service provider, you are the brand of your business. People are coming to see you, so they want to connect with the person that they're going to be coming to see, and if you're a service provider, like if you're doing massage, if you're doing aesthetics, if you're doing nails, people are spending a lot of their time with you, you're touching them, that's kind of intimate, and it can be nerve-racking for people, and people want to build trust with the person that they are allowing to do that. And for a lot of people, they are doing a lot of research, asking their friends, trying to figure out a place where they feel safe enough to go and get these types of services.

So they're connecting with you, the actual person behind who is offering them their services, and most likely they've checked out your website, they're checking out your social media pages, they're looking through Google to find the reviews, and they want to make sure that they are safe with you, that they can trust you, that your space is nice and clean and inviting, and you are all of those things as well. So that's why it's so important to show your face. We want to build those relationships with our clients, with potential clients.

We want to build likeability. We want to build trust. We want to let them know that this is a safe and inviting place for them to come in and receive a service.

So when you are showing up and you're showing your face, it 100% helps to build all of those things because people connect with people. So how can we do that? How did I get over my fear?

And honestly, it's about doing it imperfectly over and over again. And it's never going to be perfect, but it's about building your own confidence to show up and just realizing that no one's judging you. And if they are, they're not your people.

You're showing up for the people who are going to show up for you. So, doing it over and over again, even if you're just start out by recording your... I took so many videos of myself that didn't go on social media just to get comfortable.

And I've built more confidence by doing my podcast and recording those as well and just putting up there. But I think for me, it's just realizing that it's not about perfection. People don't want to see that you're perfect.

If you're watching this video right now, my hair is a hot mess. And it's just... I mean, it is what it is and I'm not perfect.

And I try to look, you know, put together as much as I can. But it's summer and my kids are home and I don't have a lot of time. And just showing up as you are, being authentic.

I think that's really what people want right now. In this time, in this day and age, it's not about having a perfectly aesthetic look, just showing up and being yourself. And if you fumble over words or don't say the right thing, it's okay.

I mean, it's not live. You can record again, but don't just keep recording and recording and recording and never putting anything out there. Just put it out there and keep doing it and keep showing up and build that trust with your clients.

So that's kind of my suggestion. That's how I got over that fear and build confidence in myself as I just keep doing it. So that is it for today's episode.
